Recent e-learning projects

We recently completed a 20 language project for an Alice an American company that includes voice-overs, on-screen text localisation and editing the Articulate Storyline data.

A business travel company required 5 modules of e-Learning videos dealing with international ethics and anti-corruption voice-overs for their international branches. We recorded, edited, and time-synced almost 70 minutes of material in Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese Mandarin, French, german, Italian, Japanese, Latin American Spanish, European Spanish, and Thai. This project also required some creative flair, with our artists playing out €˜secret agent’ scenarios.

There are various styles of Zulu subtitles that we can offer. Not just the style of Zulu font but also whether or not to use an opaque background behind the text or even a stylised background for dramatic effect or no background at all. Localising any on-screen text and motion graphics on your video into Zulu. Depending on the individual graphics and the source software used to create them we could require the original data package it was produced in.

SRT Translation and Transcription Services

Using Adelphi’s English to Zulu translation services for subtitling, quality and timing can be closely controlled throughout the project, ensuring that your subtitles will always be ready to publish on or before your deadline. We also provide Zulu subtitling for many translation agencies around the world and are happy to work with their translations. As some languages must use specific fonts in order to work with the subtitling software, we can consult with you on your needs and advise you of all of your options. Adelphi is a proud member of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC).

Our in-house subtitle translations department are experts in English to Zulu translations and subtitle/SRT file creation specifically for subtitling projects. SRT files are time-coded transcripts that can be imported into the subtitling software that then displays the correct subtitle in the correct sequence.

We also offer a transcription service for those customers lacking a transcript of their videos. We provide time-coded scripts of your videos that are ready to be translated. We will then use those translations for the subtitle text, sending you the files at each stage of the process for you to review and assess.

Adelphi Translations in-house Video Translation Service provides translations for subtitles and voice-overs in over 100 languages included in our video translation services are transcriptions and on-screen text localisation.

Adelphi has its own in-house translation department but we are also happy to work with your own translations. We are also a voice-over production agency with over 1,200 foreign language voice artists on our books in over 80 languages. Our subtitling department has subtitled videos in over 100 languages.

Working with Translation Agencies

Adelphi has worked for many translation agencies providing them with translations and video localisation, where we give advice on length of translations, fonts for subtitling etc. This enables translation agencies to offer video translations including the voice-over and subtitling to their own clients.

Subtitling translations

Adelphi produce SRT files in any language, including making transcriptions of the source video before they are translated to create SRT files for subtitling. Some clients want only the SRT file so that they can produce their own subtitles while others want us to provide the finished video for them.

Voice-over translations

Voice-over translations are a more specialist area when compared to standard translations. Voice-over translations must be restricted to fit the same time-slot as the original otherwise the voice-artist may have to speak faster to make it fit. If the voice-over is going to be used over a video of a different language, then the voice-over translation may include time-codes to help the voice-artist and engineer sync up the voice to the video.

Subtitle SRT translation services

Subtitle SRT translation services in any language

As part of our subtitling localisation services Adelphi produce Subtitle SRT files in any language, this includes making transcriptions of the source video, translations of the text, ready to create SRT files for subtitling. Some clients may only want the SRT file so that they can add their own subtitles while others want the finished video with burnt-on subtitles made for them.

To create the SRT subtitling translation, our audiovisual translator (SRT file translator) would work directly from the source video using a script provided or produced by ourselves. Our subtitle translator would then create the SRT files that are used to produce burnt-on subtitles. Machine translation is never used, only qualified translators, translating into their native language and who are experienced in SRT subtitle translations.

Adelphi is a member of the Association of Translation Companies (ATC). The ATC requires member companies to adhere to a strict code of professional conduct, are subject to the rulings of a professional ethics committee.

SRT and YouTube

Many companies now host their videos on YouTube and add subtitles by uploading a translated SRT file. This is a very cost-effective way of having your videos subtitled. There are limitations as you do not have control of font or position etc.

Visit your Video Manager and click the drop-down menu next to the “Edit” button for the video you’d like to upload subtitles or closed captions for
Select Subtitles and CC
Select the original spoken language of the video from the drop-down menu (157 languages)
Click the Add subtitles or cc button and select the language of the subtitle or caption file you want to upload
Select Upload a file (Details below)
Choose the language at the top of the screen
Choose the type of file to upload
Click the Choose file button and browse your computer for the file
The file will auto-populate and let you know the timing of each subtitle or closed caption

Transcription Services

There are two basic types of transcription, Verbatim which includes all the “hum” and “ah’s” etc., and then there is Readable which is cleaned up to eliminate all the unnecessary elements.

Our transcription services provide time-coded scripts ready for translation. The length of many languages will expand when compared to original English and care must be taken in the translation to keep the true meaning of the English, while staying within the time frame allowed. We sometimes have to edit the English to make a more concise version of the original, this is because the written version of many languages is much longer than the English and would not fit in the allocated time-slot. Of course, the edited English is approved by the client before translation into the target language.
